Job Description

Experience Level: 7 – 8 years

• Experience with Oracle databases (MUST HAVE)

o Ability to write SQL queries to validate backend data or assist in debugging code / tables

• Experience with Unix / Linux (MUST HAVE)

o Proficient in command line for navigating file systems, checking logs and services, running shell scripts and analysing server-side errors

• Manual Testing Experience (MUST HAVE)

o Create test plans, test cases to support validation of results, and runbooks

o Execution and monitoring of batch execution

o Experience with differing types of testing: functional, regression, integration

• Bug Tracking and Test Management (MUST HAVE)

o Experience with Jira, and capability in writing clear, reproducible error reports with logs and sufficient evidencing

• Knowledge of Agile / Scrum

o Experience working in iterative environments, participating in sprints and agile ceremonies

o Identify subtle issues other may miss e.g. inconsistent GUI behaviour or incorrect data flow / runbook steps detailed

• Critical thinking

o Ability to think from user’s perspective and challenge assumptions, not just validate and follow exact instructions provided by developer / BA

• Proactivity

o Come up with processes to better operations and explore software / code to uncover issues (rather than ask on failures encountered)

• Strong Communication Skills

o Clearly document bugs, own runbook creation and test runs, while clearly communicating findings effectively with project managers, developers and BA’s

• Analytical Mindset

o Understand process workflows and be able to trace bugs back to potential causes

• Persistence and Patience

o RISE test cycles can be repetitive and frustrating, so ability to deal with this

RISE QA Bonus Traits

• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines

o Understand how QA fits into continuous integration and development workflows, and version control familiarity

• Automation Skills

o Knowledge of testing frameworks, the ability to create test scripts

• Experience with performance / load testing

o Identify long running processes, and trends to current batch timings

• Domain knowledge

o Familiarity with Aptitude products and Insurance / Finance sector
