Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Backend Tester with strong expertise in Java-based automation, API testing, and database validation. The ideal candidate will have hands on experience testing backend systems, particularly in payments or financial domains, ensuring high reliability, performance, and data integrity of APIs and backend services.
Key Responsibilities
•    Design, develop, and execute backend and API test automation using Java and frameworks such as Rest Assured
•    Perform comprehensive API testing (RESTful services) including functional, regression, integration, and negative testing
•    Validate data integrity by writing complex SQL queries and performing database testing
•    Collaborate with backend developers, product owners, and DevOps teams to understand requirements and test scenarios
•    Identify, log, and track defects with clear root cause analysis and work closely with development teams for resolution
•    Ensure high quality of backend systems related to payments processing, transaction flows, and reconciliation
•    Participate in test strategy, test planning, and continuous improvement of test frameworks and processes
•    Support CI/CD pipelines by integrating automated tests where applicable

Mandatory Skills & Qualifications
•    6–8 years of experience in backend or API testing
•    Strong proficiency in Java
•    Hands on experience with API testing frameworks, especially Rest Assured
•    Knowledge of SQL and database testing (data validation, joins, stored procedures, etc.)
•    Experience testing microservices and backend systems
•    Strong understanding of SDLC and STLC
•    Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
•    Excellent problem solving, analytical, and communication skills
Good to Have
•    Working knowledge of Python for scripting or test automation
•    Experience in Payments / Banking / Financial Services domain
•    Exposure to performance or security testing tools
•    Experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, Git, Maven/Gradle)
•    Knowledge of cloud-based systems and distributed architectures
