Job Description

Revenue Accounting & Revenue Recognition

 

  • Standard Compliance: Ensure strict compliance with revenue recognition standards (ASC 606 / IFRS 15) tailored to professional service models.
  • Month-End Closing: Own the month-end closing process for revenue, including journal entries, revenue accruals, and deferrals.
  • T&M General Ledger Accuracy: Reconcile timesheet data, unbilled accounts receivable (WIP), and earned revenue against the General Ledger (GL).
  • Technical Accounting Policies: Write, update, and implement corporate accounting policies for complex multi-element technology services contracts.

 

Financial Controllership & Balance Sheet Integrity

 

  • Reconciliations: Supervise and review monthly balance sheet reconciliations for Accounts Receivable (AR), Allowance for Doubtful Accounts, and Deferred Revenue.
  • Variance Analysis: Perform detailed monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue variance analyses against forecasts and historical performance.
  • Internal Controls: Maintain and strengthen internal controls over financial reporting for the entire billing-to-revenue cycle.
  • Unbilled Revenue Management: Track unbilled revenue to ensure timely milestone capitalization and billing.
  • Audit Ownership: Act as the lead coordinator for external and internal auditors, preparing schedules, footnotes, and walkthroughs for revenue accounting.
  • Reporting & Dashboards: Develop and Design reports to substantiate the completeness and accuracy of revenue.

 

Profitability & Contract Accounting

 

  • Gross Margin Control: Track and account for Direct Cost of Services (billable employee salaries, contractor costs, vendor payouts) to calculate precise project-level gross margins.
  • SOW Financial Accounting: Review financial clauses in Statements of Work (SOWs) to determine correct accounting treatment before project kickoff.

 

Education & Experience

  • Professional Certification: Chartered Accountant (CA), or equivalent professional accounting designation is strictly required.
  • Domain Experience: Minimum 7-9 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3-4 years in a dedicated Revenue Accountant or Controller role within IT staffing or technology consulting.

Technical Competencies

  • Accounting Software: Deep expertise in ERP/PMS accounting modules like NetSuite, SAP, or Oracle.
  • ASC 606 Tools: Familiarity with automated revenue recognition sub-ledgers or modules.
