Job Description

Role summary
We are looking for a hands-on database engineer to lead design, performance tuning, and optimization for high volume systems. The role focuses on SQL Server with exposure to SingleStore for caching and real time analytics. You will work closely with product and engineering teams and explain technical decisions clearly to business partners.
Key responsibilities
•    Own database design, capacity planning, and performance tuning for SQL Server
•    Build and optimize complex SQL, stored procedures, indexes, and partitioning strategies
•    Design and manage caching or fast data access layers using SingleStore
•    Diagnose bottlenecks, run query plans, and drive measurable performance gains
•    Set up monitoring, alerting, and housekeeping jobs for availability and reliability
•    Partner with application teams on schema changes, release readiness, and data migrations
•    Create clear documentation and give walkthroughs to stakeholders
•    Mentor engineers on SQL best practices and data modeling
Must have
•    10 plus years of hands-on experience with relational databases, mainly SQL Server
•    Strong SQL writing skills and deep experience with performance improvement
•    Solid understanding of indexing, isolation levels, query plans, and transaction handling
•    Experience running production workloads and troubleshooting high severity issues
•    Clear and confident communication with both technical and business users
Good to have
•    Experience with MemSQL or SingleStore as a caching or analytical store
•    Data modeling for OLTP and reporting use cases
•    Linux or Unix shell scripting for automation
•    Domain understanding of Capital Markets or broader financial services
Tools and environment
•    SQL Server, SingleStore, Git, CI pipelines, monitoring and profiling tools
•    Linux or Windows based database servers
Education
•    Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
Work setup
•    Full time. Location and hybrid or on-site can be adjusted as per project needs
•    On-call rotation for critical production systems as required
