Job Description

Key Responsibilities

Cloud Infrastructure & Architecture

  • Design and implement scalable, secure, and highly available Azure infrastructure.
  • Architect and support Azure Databricks environments, including workspace deployment, cluster configurations, and networking.
  • Implement best practices for landing zones and cloud governance.

Data Platform Enablement (Databricks Focus)

  • Provision and manage Databricks workspaces, clusters, and job orchestration.
  • Integrate Databricks with Azure services like:
    • Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2
    • Azure Synapse Analytics
    • Azure Key Vault
  • Enable secure data access using managed identities, service principals, and RBAC.
  • Support performance tuning and cost optimization of Spark workloads.

Networking & Security

  • Configure and manage:
    • Virtual Networks (VNet), Subnets, NSGs
    • Private Endpoints and Service Endpoints
  • Implement secure Databricks deployment patterns (VNet injection, private link).
  • Ensure compliance with enterprise security standards using:
    • Microsoft Defender for Cloud
    • Azure Policies and Blueprints

Automation & DevOps

  • Develop Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using:
    • Terraform, ARM templates, Bicep
  • Automate deployments using:
    • Azure CLI, PowerShell
  • Collaborate on CI/CD pipelines using tools like:
    • Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions
  • Support release management for data pipelines and infrastructure

Monitoring, Performance & Cost Optimization

  • Implement monitoring solutions using:
    • Azure Monitor
    • Log Analytics
  • Optimize cluster utilization, auto-scaling, and job scheduling in Databricks
  • Track and control cloud spend using cost management tools

Operations & Support

  • Troubleshoot infrastructure and data platform issues
  • Implement backup, disaster recovery, and high availability strategies
  • Maintain detailed documentation for architecture, configurations, and SOPs

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 6–8 years of IT infrastructure experience with 4+ years in Azure
  • Strong expertise in Azure IaaS & PaaS services
  • Hands-on experience with Azure (mandatory)
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Azure networking (VNet, NSG, Private Link, VPN, ExpressRoute)
    • Identity & Access Management (Azure AD, RBAC)
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred)
  • Familiarity with:
    • Azure Monitor, Log Analytics
    • Backup & Disaster Recovery
  • Understanding of big data ecosystem (Apache Spark, distributed computing)

Preferred / Nice-to-Have

  • Azure Certifications:
    • AZ-104 (Administrator)
    • AZ-305 (Architect)
    • AZ-500 (Security)
